My journey as an author truly began after those eight days in the hospital — eight days that forced me to confront what I had lived through and what it meant. For years, I carried stories inside me. As a child, I wrote poems, short stories, even rap music. Writing was always in me, but fear kept me from believing I could ever do my own story justice.  

 

Everything changed after the hospital. When I finally came to terms with what I had experienced, I realized the words weren’t just mine anymore — they were a responsibility. The journey of writing this book has humbled me in ways I never expected.  

 

I write as a disabled man. I write as a veteran. I write as a child of God. And through all of that, I write as someone who survived something that tried to break both my body and my mind.
